Jodi meets……… the bean gang

Huge green leaves had folded around Jodi’s pod after after he came to rest deep in the forests of what he gathered to be the southern lands. Suddenly the leaves parted and pod shaped creatures were staring in disbelief at Jodi, they tapped on the shell of his pod and then after clearing the leaves away they fell to the ground ‘leader’ they said, ‘oh, great leader’, Jodi got out of his pod ‘nooooo!! I’m not your leader’ said Jodi, wondering quite what had prompted this reaction, as they looked disappointedly at the now empty pod, ‘oh, we really thought that you were’ said a swarthy looking coffee bean, ‘my name is Jose and I speak for all of us when I say we’ve been having problems recently, and we were counting on the Great Bean of All Time to come and give us a hand’.

‘You see’, proffered Jose, ‘ it’s not easy trying to be free and surviving as bean’s in this land. Which is why we’ve formed a collective gang, but the authorities see us as a threat and call us bandits’. ‘For instance’ said Jose as he brings a lima bean out from behind some kidney beans ‘ take Lima – he has had it very bad of late, caught up in the cross fire of business corporate managers, government officials and freedom fighters, none of which are very amicable about things at any stage in the proceedings’.

Jodi said hello to Lima and noted what a sorry state he looked, course maize bandages covering his once soft green skin, this sight was enough to convince Jodi there were some serious things happening on What Planet! and it didn’t take much for him to conclude that whilst all this fighting and bickering was going on the infrastructure was being neglected and subsequently failing.

Could he or the friends he had met so far do anything about it? He knew he had to find the leaders in charge of this mess to discover more. So promising to be back with better news he waived a farewell to the sorry but plucky band. ‘Amigo’ called Jose, as Jodi turned to go to his pod, ‘be careful’.
